My name is Melonie Murray. I'll be your hostess (hostette?) here at Workerette. Some of you may also know me from SmallBizMentor.com, where I've been blogging for Know More Media about all things small business.
Over the past 15 years I have spent more than a decade in retail sales and management, both working for corporations in various capacities and in a family-owned small business. (Woman-owned...that'd be my mom!) During one point of my career in retail I spent almost five years in a male-dominated environment. Later I spent the same amount of time working in industries surrounded almost entirely by women. Talk about an interesting change! It was all fun though; okay, mostly. But those are stories for another day.
Now I work as a freelance writer and I also happen to be a divorced homeschooling momma. I've dealt with job changes and family fluctuations, just like you probably have. We all seek balance and success. The question is, how can we help each other achieve those goals? They aren't as lofty as they might appear sometimes. They are achievable, but we need to share our resources and encourage one another.
That's what I'm now here for. I want to know about your tips, trials, and triumphs. What has worked for you in business, and at home, and in dealing with it all? Truth be told, we ladies do have different points of view and different experiences than the men. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong, just means we need to face things down a little differently to achieve the final successes.
My goal is to bring you a wealth of resources here at Workerette. I look forward to hearing your questions and learning from your insight and comments. Come forth and share!
