Do antiperspirants prevent the release of toxins that can get blocked and cause breast cancer? According to belief net, all the leading breast cancer organizations, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, say this is merely a myth. Sweat doesn't contain toxins and sweat blocked by antiperspirants is released through other parts of the body.
What about cancer causing tampons? There are some emails out there that claim the dioxin levels in tampons are dangerously high. Dr. Sherry Marts, PhD, is the scientific director of the Society for Women's Health Research. Dr. Marts says some dioxins are more dangerous than others, but they are found everywhere in the environment, including drinking water and food. Marts says, "Researchers are able to detect dioxin at .02 parts per trillion, and they're not able to detect any in tampons."
Sometimes emails sent out to the masses provide good information, but sometimes the information could be exaggerated or false, so I recommend you do some research or ask your doctor before you panic!
