Today Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell and a panel of PA business journals announced the winners of the 11th Annual Best 50 Women in Business Awards. According to the press release, the winner and their colleagues continue to drive local and state economies as they create opportunities for better growth and quality of life in their various communities.
To qualify for the award, nominees must be employed in (or be a female resident of) the state. They must also be "an owner, partner, president, chief executive officer, board chair, in a senior executive management level position, or a woman with significant authority in decision-making in a business or company." An independent panel of judges chose the top 50 candidates based on professional and personal accomplishments, contribution to their community, and several other factors. Recognition of the honorees (who include doctors, publishers, and owners/CEOs of a variety of businesses, large and small) will take place this May.
Congratulations, ladies! Pennsylvania Workerettes, if you know of a businesswoman who meets the above standards and should be nominated for next year's award, hit the Governor's website for more details.
