I just received the email version of Seventh Generation's "Non-Toxic Times" and I still haven't decided whether to laugh or be offended, but this issue is a snazzy one.
Seventh Generation is a company that provides "green" cleaning products and they are apparently branching out into feminine hygiene products. I'm not going to argue over the logic, since such items as tampons do contain items such as dioxins and rayon, which can be hazardous to our health.
However, the humor ("manses" and men boasting about their "flow rate" in an alternate universe?) is right on the edge of what I find acceptable. And trust me, I associate with folks who can really push the envelope. (Don't ask...I promise you don't want to know.) On the flip side, I do find the information interesting, and some of the word play is quite witty. ("Tampontification"? That one took my editing brain a second to figure out.)
Pop on over and check out the newsletter. Is the information provided important enough to you that the method of delivery is acceptable? Or has Seventh Generation pushed the envelope too far this time, even as other mainstream marketers are embroiled in the "wardrobe malfunction" defense era?
Me, I can't decide still. I want your thoughts. Lemme know what you think...would you buy their product, and would it be because of health issues or the humor? Or would you boycott their product, based on the wording? Can't wait to hear the thoughts of my fellow Workerettes on this one!
