I don't know about you, but 2005 was a triple whammy of a year for me. Change came crashing down on me like waves on the seashore. Not the nice rolling ones that you can time and ride in; I'm talking about being stuck in the breakers getting pounded by the surf and barely having time to breathe before the next one nails you.
The downside is that some "negative" changes occured in my life; the upside is that they all happened by the end of 2005, leaving me feeling as though 2006 was a clean slate and a year of multiple opportunities. If you're feeling the same way, you may glean wisdom and encouragement from learning about my colleague Mary Jo Tate's new endeavor.
You see, Mary Jo is an excellent writer and amazing editor who I've seen working in the home education community for some time. As I got to know her a bit better, I learned that she's got more than two decades of experience under her belt along with a serious case of entrepreneur-itis. (And I don't think there's a cure for it either!)
Just this week, I got a note from this super smart Workerette directing me to yet another new business, AudioToBook.com. Mary Jo has figured out another way to market her skills and serve others at the same time. She knows how to brand and market herself and build a career out of her passions...something we can all learn from, whether we're Workerettes in the field of writing, art, healthcare, childcare...the list goes on.
(Side note here: those of you who have a story to share about your careers, businesses or family history should pop by and chat with Mary Jo. I can see a hundred and one ways her services could help folks who have something to say!)
