Not exactly the sort of networking we deal with these days as adults, is it? But the psychological games described in this article ("Mean Girls") and other recent resources about the matter of bullying by girls make me wonder if perhaps that was safer, and less scarring, than the outcome of mental and social attacks.
One interesting point that comes up time and again in the article is about adult women, who all too often continue these head games into the PTA meetings, the church committees and the workplace. I highly recommend that you read this article if you have daughters or if you are dealing with a "Queen Bee" in the workplace. At the very least, after reading the sidebars "Close to Home" and "A Letter to Kara" you'll know you aren't (and never were) alone. You'll also come away with some resources and suggestions for dealing with the matter, for girls of all ages.
(On a lighter note, the story a few pages after this piece, entitled "Kinderotics", will give you one doozy of a suggestion for something to do on "Moms' Night Out". This is one for the to-do list.)
