Alrighty ladies, time to grab your favorite pen or pull over your keyboard and start writing about your life. Glamour is hosting their fourth annual essay contest for women who want to share an inspiring true story from their lives. Contestants don't have to be professional writers; your story just has to offer style, originality, and the potential to be turned into a book. This is the time for you successful Workerettes to share the story of how you got where you are, or how you plan to get where you will be!
A panel of writers will judge the contest entries, including Laura Hillenbrand (author of Seabiscuit and an inspiration to many herself) and Pulitzer Prize winner Jane Smiley. The winner will receive $5,000, have their essay published in a future edition of Glamour, and an opportunity to collaborate with a top literary agent on a book proposal.
Essays have to be between 2,500 and 3,500 words and must be received by 14 May 2006. You can get all the details, including an entry application and the legal stuff, over at the Glamour website. If you enter, let me know...we'll all watch for your name up in lights (or in print) in a future issue of Glamour!
