Ready for a poignant follow-up on your reading list after you've read The Mommy Wars? Carol Evans, CEO of Working Mother Media, has penned a book called This Is How We Do It: The Working Mothers' Manifesto. You can read an excerpt from the book in the May 2006 edition of Working Mother magazine.
My copy arrived in my mailbox the other day and the first thing I did today was flip to the excerpt because of the cover line, "I'm a Mother First!" Amen, sister!
I had to laugh during her description of trying to sell Dr. Wan, the OB who delivered her daughter, on the idea of just sending her home. She says, "I truly believed I could convince the stern-faced doctor to let me quit pushing and leave the hospital." I can just picture this doctor's face as Evans "summoned [her] powers of persuasion, honed by years in sales, to get Dr. Wan to agree...."
If the rest of this book is written with the same tone and humor as the few pages I got to read in Working Mother, I suspect this title is one that will drive many of us to tears, laughter, and some combination thereof. Read it when you can, and comment here at Workerette.com with your favorite part(s)!

Glad you enjoy the information!
