According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, approximately 50 low-income women in the Richmond, Virginia, area will be cooking up a big batch of business skills and self-sufficiency over the next several years. Women's food business New Visions, New Ventures, Ukrop's Super Markets, Inc., and the Berryman Center for Community Ministries are joining together in the Women's Small Business Incubator program.
The ladies involved in the program will learn how to build and operate a business and other professional development skills. They'll also learn kitchen skills in the commercial kitchen provided by the Berryman Center and receive help in setting up their own businesses like catering services, bakeries, etc.
District churches and businesses are invited to join the process as the women learn the entrepreneurial skills necessary to earn a living wage with their new-found businesses. Hats off to all the future Workerettes and the ministries involved in the program!
