Have you been doing any spring cleaning as the days get longer and warmer? I sure have! If you're ready to clean out closets and have career wear that is too big or too small for you these days, why not pass it along to some Workerettes who can make great use of it?
The Women's Alliance is an organization that provides skills training, career attire and other related services to low-income women seeking employment. Personally, I'm in love with their tagline:
"Someone's Future Is Hanging In Your Closet"
Isn't that just incredible? Think about it. Somewhere out there is a woman who is striving to build a better future for herself, and you can help her do it! Your business suit, your company's donation, your career coaching...any of it could make a difference in the life of a Workerette out there.
With Mother's Day coming up next month, I'm sure some of us will receive new clothing or treat ourselves to that pair of shoes that really helps us put our best foot forward in the board meeting. What are you going to do with the items you clean out of your closet to make room for such things? According to these statistics, helping an organization like The Women's Alliance doesn't just touch one person...it affects her family, the community, the state, and the federal government.
Even if you're working from home in your yoga pants and a t-shirt (yes, that'd be me!) there are plenty of ways to help. Who knew? Now you do!
