Too Much Estrogen In The Workplace

Help me out ladies, why is it when several women work together, there always seems to be problems.  The term "cat fight" is used frequently and is very true.  Is it because of competition?

Personally, I enjoy working with females and I don't feel I have to compete with my co-workers.  I like idea sharing and being able to confide in my female counterparts.  But sometimes, strained relationships amongst other female co-workers makes work difficult, and makes for an uncomfortable work environment.

Tara Roth Madden is the author of "Women vs. Women, The Uncivil Business War."  Madden takes a look at the strange dynamics of females in the workplace, and looks at why women try to undermine one another.  I don't understand it, our predecessors have fought for us to be where we are, and now that we are starting to actually get the respect we deserve as equals, we have these unnecessary antics.  So tell me ladies, why can't we get along?

Relating to this topic should be quite easy for many women.

But, it extends beyond the workplace and is firmly imbued within life itself.

Growing up, the girls I hung out with and called friends (with the exception of a few) have always been "catty" to some extent.

In rare cases, it would resort to full out physical violence - and frankly, I do believe it's because of competition.

Deep down, woman have an alpha woman complex.

The only difference between the alpha male complex and the alpha woman complex is that men tend to be upfront about it.

This is probably a lot more prevalent in the corporate world because there is a fear of the "glass ceiling" (it still exists).

If one woman can get the top position, you bet your breeches that some women would step on their own grandmothers to get it.

Of course, there's nothing scientific to back it up - it's just my opinion based on experiences.

Then, there's that menses thing...a number of woman in close proximity for prolonged periods of time undergo chemical changes (literally).

And having a bunch of PMSing women around is never a good thing :).
