
Mom's, have you been asked this question? With Easter Sunday around the corner, I thought I would see what I could find on the subject.
Plymouth Library says the Easter Bunny originated in Pagan times, known as the Easter Hare. Long before the birth of Jesus, parenst told children that the magic hare would bring them presents at the spring festival. The presents were often colored eggs, representing "new life" starting at this time of year.
The "bunny" was first used as a symbol of Easter in 16th century Germany. The first edible Easter bunnies, made of pastry and sugar, were produced in Germany as well during the 1800's. As you can conclude, talk of the Easter bunny spread, and people started doing their own versions, making baskets for children, and so on. Happy Easter everyone!
