I found a website that offers a natural alternative for acne. Cosmetic cop says that tea tree oil is an effective disinfectant. Research compared 5% tea tree oil, to that of 5% benzoyl peroxide for the treatment of acne. Both proved to effective in reducing the number of inflamed lesions. But, the benzoyl peroxide did a better job of getting rid of skin oiliness.
The article says that unfortunately, most products on the market only contain 1% concentration of tea tree oil, not the 5% strength used in the study. I wonder if you buy tea tree oil concentrate and use just a minimal amount, will it get rid of acne?
I have used tea tree oil on cold sores and it has worked wonders. This is just another alternative to over-the-counter products.

I've heard that tea tree oil is good for the skin, but have never used it to get rid of acne. My friend uses pure retinol and that has worked for her.
