A very interesting concept, eating foods that can help improve your physical and emotional well-being. iVillage posted an intriguing article that lists 20 different diets to help with things from anxiety to steamier sex!
I looked at the anti-anxiety diet and it suggests eating complex carbs such as fruits and whole wheat products because they act as tranquilizers by increasing serotonin, which is the neurotransmitter in your brain that calms you.
Foods containing Tryptophan, such as turkey and milk, act as a pre-cursor to serotonin, which will have a calming effect on the body. Also, they recommend cutting out caffeine and switching to herbal tea, which can calm you. The diet also encourages you to drink plenty of water because dehydration can make you anxious. It's worth taking a few minutes to look at the list to see if any of the diets apply to you. Some of the choices make sense, and the change is simple.
