Christian women now have a new resource to support and encourage them, courtesy of Meredith Corporation (yes, the Better Homes and Gardens folks): Lily.
My friend and fellow writer, Eleanor Joyce, spotted this magazine a few weeks back and posted about it on her own blog so much that I just had to look for it. This week I spotted the premier issue on the newsstand at my local Safeway and, based on Eleanor's recommendation, bought a copy. I'm so glad I did!
While the target audience is very obviously Christian women, I believe women of all faiths would enjoy quite a bit of the information in this magazine. A beautifully laid-out article about blessings applies no matter your denomination. Dr. James Dobson (of Focus on the Family) tackled the questions of a single mom in a caring and kind manner, and Joyce Meyer's article about choosing to rejoice was completely Christian but still full of enough fire to remind anyone about the benefits of taking their life (and choices) into their own hands.
The home solutions section offers great tips for safely storing treasures (on earth) such as stemware and china, and the crafty ideas are fun not just for Easter and Mother's Day but year 'round. There are some incredible interviews and stories about families, couples, and women of various ages that would pique the interest of any woman who needs some wisdom, insight, inspiration or encouragement.
Eleanor, thanks for blogging about Lily...I probably wouldn't have even spotted it were it not for your recommendation! Workerettes, check out this publication and let me know what you think (positive or negative) back here at Workerette.com!
