Researchers have connected cook-outs to cancer. Can it be true? According to emh-healthcare.org, studies show high-heat cooking of red meats, poultry, and fish, creates chemicals called heterocyclic amines, which are linked to cancer.
The good news is, the studies also showed that marinating the meats before grilling can reduce the amount of the chemicals released by 90%. Researchers say the marinade not only flavors and tenderizers the meat, it acts as a barrier between the high heat and the meat.
So, go ahead and soak that meat in some olive oil, vinegar, citrus juice, or Italian dressing, not only will your family and friends enjoy the taste, they'll thank you for considering their health!
