Along the same lines as Going Back to Work, this new book by Monica Samuels and J.C. Conklin offers women returning to the workforce a ton of great ideas, suggestions and resources. This title, however, has an even warmer tone and even more insight to share. Subtitled "How to Leave Work, Raise Children and Restart Your Career Even If You Haven't Had a Job in Years", this one actually takes plenty of pages to discuss the trials a mom can face after initially leaving work to parent (such as backlash from spouses, family, friends and former colleagues) and the emotional havoc that can be wrought when you succumb to "CEO mom syndrome".
As with Going Back to Work, Comeback Moms touches on ways to keep your finger in the pie through volunteer work and part-time efforts, but it also offers clear suggestions for networking with colleagues and peers (both the at-work and the at-home types). How to quit your job, how to keep up to speed on your industry, and how to return to the workforce are all covered with great finesse. Of the two titles, I'm going to have to vote for Comeback Moms as the better for those who want to know what to expect prior to leaving the workforce and how to get back into it later.
