There are a variety of berries to choose from, but all of them have great health benefits. Nubella reminds us of the nutritional impact berries hold, and at the same time, they taste fabulous.
Whether it be a strawberry or a gooseberry, all berries are loaded with anti-oxidants, beta carotene, and ellagic acid that help protect us from certain cancers and age-related diseases. Berries are low in fat, high in fiber, and have good flavor. The American Dietetic Association says frozen berries have the same value as fresh.
An example, a cup of strawberries contains 82 milligrams of vitamin C, 2 mg more than the vitamin C content of an orange. And, a cup of raspberries has 8.4 grams of fiber. So next time you go to the grocery store, swing by the berries and see what catches your eye.
