Ok moms, teach your kids proper hand washing habits now so they can carry it with them for life. The Center for Disease Control gives us instructions on correct hand washing techniques, the single most important thing you can do to keep from getting sick and to stop the spread of disease-causing germs.
- First, wet your hands with warm water and apply liquid or lather up with a clean bar of soap.
- Second, rub your hands together vigorously and scrub all surfaces. Also clean underneath your fingernails to help control germs.
- Continue for about 15 seconds or for about the time it might take you to sing the song "Happy Birthday."
- Rinse your hands well and dry.
It is the soap, combined with the scrubbing action that helps dislodge and remove the germs. The CDC also reminds us since we can't see germs, we need to wash our hands often!
