In today's USA Today, there's an article on Wendy's decision to use healthier cooking oil for their fries and other fried food menu items. The new oil is a blend of non-hydrogenated corn and soy oil containing next to no artery clogging trans fats.
The new cooking method is suppose to be introduced in the US and Canada in August. The fast food chain says a large order of fries will drop from 7 grams of trans fat to 0.5. A kids portion will drop from 3.5 to 0 grams. More good news for waist watching customers, the oil will cut trans fat in fried chicken items to 0 grams per serving!
Wendy's says the product was tested for a year at 370 stores in the US and Canada, and consumers reported no change in taste. I say it's about time! But I guess the proof is in the pudding, we'll have to wait until August to taste for ourselves.
