
Okay, I admit it: my favorite part about being on the golf course is driving the cart. (Which was also my favorite part about my stint in property management; go figure!) However, I can easily imagine that a good number of make-or-break deals have been made in the corporate community either on, or because of, golf courses. According to an Oppenheimer survey mentioned in PINK magazine, 22% of executive women golfers closed business deals on the course, while 73% of the women surveyed said the sport provides them with a business network.
If you're not already golfing, maybe next week is the time to give it a shot. Saturday marks the beginning of the 2006 American Express Women's Golf Week. In addition to networking receptions, fashion shows, and luncheons, various participating courses are also offering complimentary lessons and seminars to women ages 14 and up. Even if you don't operate a business that requires major deals to be made on the course, this would be the perfect time to get out of the house, or the office, with teen daughters, nieces, or female friends to learn how to play a round or two.
Or to learn how to drive the cart. I'm tellin' ya, that's fun too!
