
Color can have an impact on the way we feel and act according to About.com. Each color is associated with a different energy center, or chakra, in our body.
- Red-This color is vibrant and can stimulate the body. Too much of this color can overexcite and even cause anger. If you have high blood pressure, you should avoid this color. People with low blood pressure, and impotence should wear this color.
- Yellow-This is associated with the solar plexus which can manifest as fear, apprehension, or power issues. This color can help create balance when dealing with these issues.
- Orange-This color can stimulate the respiratory and nervous systems, and bring joy, making it useful for people with depression. Orange is good if you suffer from exhaustion or chronic stress.
- Green-This brings balance to the body and helps purify and cleanse. This is related to the heart chakra, so it can help with rejection or love-loss.
- Turquoise-Associated with the throat chakra, it is responsible for strengthening the immune system against disease. This color can calm the voice and improve verbal expression.
- Blue-Very calming and sedating color. It can help balance energy when there is high blood pressure, migraine, asthma, and anxiety.
- Purple-Associated with spirituality. It can help when personal transformation is desired, and can also help to bring self-respect and inner wisdom.
Can wearing a certain color really help bring you out of depression? I can speak for myself, when I wear certain colors I do feel better; more confident. And I recently had a choice of color for my office and I chose a light blue because it does give a sense of calm. So try it for yourself and let me know.
