JINSOO TERRY HONORED AS MODEL FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR WITH MAKE MINE A $MILLION BUSINESS AWARD

Terry Awarded Money, Resources to Help Grow Business

San Francisco, CA -- Jinsoo Terry, President of Advanced Global Connections, will soon join the three percent of women entrepreneurs whose businesses generate $1 million or more in annual revenues after receiving the 2006 Make Mine a $Million Business Award at the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Conference in San Francisco. Created by Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence and OPEN from American Express, the contest is part of a national initiative to help increase the number of female entrepreneurs build sustainable enterprises, create jobs, and develop innovative products and services.

Through the contest, Terry is now eligible for a line of credit from OPEN from American Express, a year of "dream team" business assistance and coaching, and powerful marketing and tech support to grow her business.

"The Make Mine a $Million Business program meets a critical need for the 'missing middle' of the population of women entrepreneurs who are neither starting up their business nor running multi-million dollar firms," said Susan Sobbott, president, OPEN from American Express. "Many of them have plateaued short of the million-dollar mark, and OPEN is helping women entrepreneurs access new resources to drive even greater success."

For the Make Mine a $Million Business Award, Terry was selected as a finalist from a field of over 500 applicants. Once in San Francisco, she competed against the other finalists by delivering business pitches to an audience of other entrepreneurs, judges, and guests. Terry was one of twenty women who were recognized for their entrepreneurial excellence.

Now residing in Berkeley, CA, native-born Korean Jinsoo Terry was among only a handful of women to successfully break through the Korean glass ceiling to become a manufacturing executive and top engineer. After immigrating to America, she built her consultancy, Advanced Global Connections, from scratch. As the CEO, Terry provides programs on cross-cultural communications, leadership skills, and US marketing techniques and methods to Asian Fortune 500 companies allowing businesses to be successful in the increasingly global marketplace. Celebrated in both Korea and the United States, Terry has been voted "Most Influential Korean-American" by The Korea Times and has been hailed as one of the 10 Asian Pacific Island community leaders by ABC TV/San Francisco in 2005.

"Jinsoo Terry and the other Make Mine a $Million Business awardees are an inspiration to all women entrepreneurs around the world," said Carol Kuc, NAWBO's president, and President/CEO of Complete Conference Coordinators, Inc., in Naperville, Ill. "I commend her for her commitment and success in business. She is a true role model."

After receiving the award, Terry said, "I am so amazed and honored. I have admired the work the Make Mine a $Million Business program does to help women build their own businesses, and to be selected in their contest is truly incredible. Women have made great strides in business already, but with the help and support of Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence and OPEN from American Express, women entrepreneurs can now take their businesses to the next level."

ABOUT JINSOO TERRY

Jinsoo Terry has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce as the leading champion and spokesperson for advancing Korean-American synergy in the global marketplace. After overcoming formidable gender barriers to become a top executive and engineer in Korea, a 30-year old Terry, with limited English, immigrated to America to accomplish similar feats in business, starting at a lower-level position in an American manufacturing position and working her way to VP of Manufacturing at a prominent San Francisco clothing maker.

Today, Jinsoo Terry is President of her own company, Advanced Global Connections, offering two-week training seminars to help Korean executives and their staffs adapt to American business culture. For her outstanding leadership as a minority entrepreneur, Terry received the 2003 Minority Business Advocate of the Year award from the U.S. Department of Commerce. She also received in July 2004 the Export Award by US Department of Commerce. Beloved in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown proclaimed July 10, 2001 "Jinsoo Terry Day."

Jinsoo Terry's inspirational story and innovative approach to global business management have made her a sought-after motivational speaker and gained the attention of national and local media alike; she was recently featured on CBS Eyewitness News in the San Francisco Bay Area and appeared in several 30-second vignettes aired by the ABC affiliate in San Francisco during Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Earlier this year, Terry was watched by millions in her native Korea in a documentary about her FUN management techniques and is currently working on a book.
