USA Today just released the rankings for America's best places to live according to Money Magazine. There are several different categories listed, based on certain criteria.
If you visit the site, you can actually input things that are important to you such as crime, price of homes, temperature, most singles, etc. It will then customize your list according to your priorities. But, the basic criteria are as follows:
- populations exceeding 50,000
- no more than 300,000 people
- eliminate cities with high crime scores, low education scores, absurdly high housing costs
- ample job opportunities, weather, taxes, ambience
So after some number crunching they came up with the top 10 Great American Towns that offer big city opportunities, with more green space and less stress.
The top ten small towns are:
- Fort Collins, CO
- Naperville, IL
- Sugarland, TX
- Columbia/Ellicott City, MD
- Cary, NC
- Overland Park, KS
- Scottsdale, AZ
- Boise, ID
- Fairfield, CT
- Eden Prairie, MN
That's the list..anyone live in Fort Collins? I hear the local newspaper is creating a stir because instead of a good write-up they are throwing around negatives such as concern for over-population.
Anyone else think their city was overlooked?
