Those of you who take the time to read comments on our blog posts here at Workerette.com probably saw the recent exchange between myself, Amy, and Rob Anderson, creator of BlogoftheDay.org. Rob stopped by and found our resources of use to women writers, so he was kind enough to feature Workerette.com on BlogoftheDay! This is particularly exciting because Rob hand-picks the blogs he features; there's plenty of competition out there in the blogosphere.
Rob's gracious comment led to an email exchange behind the scenes as well. Turns out he's quite supportive of us Workerettes and as a new business owner, he's got a lot of encouraging, exciting thoughts to share. Those of you who are blogging or starting businesses, or who are considering doing so, look closely at what he has to share here today in our Meet & Greet cyber-interview!
When you're done, if you'd like to contact Rob about his endeavors, you can visit his website or email him at Rob{at}BlogoftheDay.org.
- Please describe the business you operate or service(s) you provide to clients and customers.
I own and operate Blog of the Day, a website that is committed to finding great blogs in a variety of categories and sharing them with the public. Out motto is, “Hand picked every day!” because we do not use some automated program to find blogs, but search through a great number of blogs to find one that we believe our viewers will find useful.
- What was the inspiration or catalyst for the creation of your business endeavor?
Blog of the Day was born from a very simple idea. There should be a service to allow people to view blogs in their interest group without having to delve through a myriad of search engine results and weed out the blogs to find one that suits their interests. While browsing through blogs one day, I found that I was jumping from one category to another and didn’t have a resource to do a more narrowed search. I looked for other sites that might help me in this cause, but I didn’t find any that were of particular use. It was then that I decided to build it. I am still in the process of developing the site, but I have a working model for now, and an archive of around 500 blogs that are categorized and confirmed by me.
