* What was the inspiration or catalyst for the creation of your business?
My two young boys. Before I even had them, I knew I wanted to be home with them. I also enjoy working at home and creating my own schedule. Sometimes I work best at night.
* What steps did you follow to build your business? Are you still in the process of planning a new business?
I just did it! I researched, developed article ideas, queried editors, then completed the project. What a great feeling to see your byline on that very first magazine article!
* Please tell us about the resources you've used thus far and would recommend to others (or steer them away from). Take a moment to share your educational background (both academic and work-based) and point out things that have helped or hindered you along the way from that education.
I have a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from San Diego State University. This was the fifth school I attended due to the intervention of life in my educational plans. I ended up returning to school in my mid-twenties and graduating with honors at 33. I'm living proof that you can do it! I then picked the brains of every writer I met, especially when I worked as an A.A. for a writer's organization in Washington, D.C. I sat there one day and thought, "If they're doing it, why can't I?" The rest is history. It took hard work, but it's all worth it.
