Alright Workerettes, it's time to go through those files of unfinished articles, stories, and poems! Amy and I have come up with a fantastic idea for creating some exposure for those of you who are freelance writers, up and coming poets, and aspiring novelists.
Whether you've already started climbing the ladder and making yourself known in the publishing industry or simply dream of being published "someday", it's important to run your writing career like a business. That includes finding opportunities to gain free publicity and market your talents.
So, here's the skinny:
You can now be a guest contributor to Workerette.com! Not only will you get some exposure for your work, you'll provide other women in business with an opportunity to read work in areas they might not otherwise read.
Here are the details:
- This offer is open to all women writers, amateur or professional. Previous publishing credits are not required.
- Contributors may submit works of fiction, nonfiction, or poetry.
- Minimum word count for a work is 100 words. (Poets are encouraged to send several pieces of work if works are shorter than 100 words each.)
- Maximum word count is 3,000 words. Lengthy pieces will be split into several posts, based on the decision of the Workerette.com authors.
- Most genres of fiction will be accepted, with the exception of erotica and horror. Decisions will be made by the Workerette.com authors as to whether a piece is acceptable for our audience and within the boundaries of our own contractual obligations with Know More Media. Our decisions are final.
- Bios are welcome! Spread the word about your website, blog, or other method of business contact so other folks (editors, etc) can contact you if they like your work!
- You retain the copyright to your work. When contacted with submission information, be sure to place the copyright date and your name at the end of you submission, along with the phrase "Used by permission". This grants us one-time use of your piece(s).
