Everyone deserves a day at the spa! If you're like me, you might be a little intimidated or embarrassed because you're not quite sure what to expect. About.com posted some spa etiquette to help you make the most of your visit.
- Arrive 20 minutes prior to appointment time so you can get into a robe and slippers.
- Massage is usually done in the nude, but in the US, you are covered with a sheet. The only part exposed is what is being massaged.
- You can keep your undergarments on, whatever makes you comfortable. After all, you are there to relax!
- Get a massage before a facial. Body treatments should always come before massage.
- Speak up if your uncomfortable with anything, the music, the temperature, anything. Your therapist is working for you, and they want a good tip.
- You can talk during treatments, or remain quiet. The therapist will usually follow your lead.
- You are suppose to tip 15%-20%. If you have a gift certificate, sometimes they include the tip, so ask how much your session is so you know if the tip is included.
I was scared to go my first time. But you need to let yourself relax, and enjoy the therapy because you deserve it! The nerves and inhibitions quickly disappear.
