The Plan B Pill, Levonorgestrel, can now be sold by your local pharmacist. The FDA made the ruling earlier this week, which will allow any woman 18 or older to ask for it at their local pharmacy.
Usa Today published the article, and it's also been featured on about.com this week. The "morning after" pills are suppose to lower the risk of pregnancy after 72 hours of having unprotected sex. Plan B is not an abortion pill, it works the way most other forms of birth control do, primarily preventing the fertilization of eggs, and secondarily by making the uterine environment inhospitable to egg implantation.
The behind the counter method will allow pharmacists to ask people for proper ID, but also some pharmacies may still choose not to have the drug in-stock. What are your thoughts on this pill? Good or bad thing for women?
