I don't mean, who brings home the bacon, I mean who literally sits down with the check book and writes out the checks. After talking to some friends and co-workers, I find that women who seem to be feeling stressed, are usually the ones who carry the burden of worrying about the finances.
For example, in my house, my husband and I work opposite shifts. He needs access to money at the same time I might need access to money. Because this was an issue, we now have separate checking accounts. So, every two weeks when payday comes, I sit down with my checkbook and his, and try to figure out how I'm going to get the bills paid. When you are on a tight budget, this is very stressful.
And when he decides to ask every now and then, where we are with certain bills, I get aggravated because he never wants to sit down and pay the bills with me, but then he questions why I paid $25 to this bill and only $10 to that bill. It is very frustrating, especially when he asks why I'm stressed, and wonders why I'm exhausted, and not interested in having sex.
I'm really looking for some feedback on this issue!

When I was married, not only did we have seperate checking accounts, but we were each responsible for paying certain bills and expenses. It worked out fine.
