The Associated Press is reporting that thousands of bottles of Similac are being recalled today because they do not contain the proper amount of vitamin C.
100,000 32-ounce plastic bottles of Similac Alimentum Advance Formula, and 200,000 bottles of Similac Advance with Iron. The products are distributed by Abbott's Ross Division. The affected formula is missing a layer that keeps the air out of the bottle, and when the oxygen enters the bottle, it causes the Vitamin C to decrease over time.
The Similac Alimentum has a stock code of 57512, lot number 401895v, and use by date of May 2007. The Similac Advance with Iron has stock code number 55961, lot number 40177RH, and use by date of November 2007. Some of the bottle may have been included in hospital discharge bags. Call Abott's Ross Products with any questions at 800-624-3412.
