
About.com has some good choices for your kids that offer hidden sources of calcium. Here's a list of non-dairy foods that are calcium fortified:
- Salmon
- Tofu
- Spinach
- White Beans
- Peas
- Almonds
- Sesame Seeds
- Baked beans
- Broccoli
A lot of products are also labeling their packaging if they are "calcium fortified." Such as orange juice, breakfast cereal, soy milk, bread, instant oatmeal, Nestle Nesquik, animal cookies, graham crackers and Minute Maid products.
These are good options if your child is not a big milk or cheese person.
