The October 2006 issue of Glamour magazine arrived in my mailbox recently and in it was the feature listing the winners of the 49th annual Top 10 College Women Competition. These girls are just amazing, both in their bravery and their willingness to go the extra mile.
Workerette.com would like to congratulate the following collegiate Workerettes and to give a huge thank you to all of the many students who are putting their time and effort out there, whether they are "winners" of the Glamour contest or not. You are all role models for women of all ages!
This year's top ten winners were:
- Chikoti Mibenge, Wellesley College
- Danielle Josephs, Douglass College, Rutgers University
- Maya Shankar, Yale University
- Yasmin Elhady, Emory University

- Rebecca Mitchell, University of MN, Twin Cities
- Dawn Smith, Juilliard School

If you know a college junior you'd like to nominate for Glamour's 2007 competition, you can encourage them to grab an application online at Glamour.com. They can also get one by emailing TTCW@glamour.com or by submitting the hard copy form in the October 2006 issue. Winners receive a $2,000 cash prize, a trip to New York City, a gala luncheon awards ceremony, recognition in next year's October issue of Glamour, and opportunities to network with top female professionals.
Tell your inspirational college junior to hurry though, because apps must be received by February 12th, 2007!
