This weekend marks the official beginning of fall, and in my area, some of the stores have been ready for Halloween for weeks and are already gearing up for the Christmas retail season! If you're the type who likes to shop ahead to beat the crowds, this is a very good thing...but what if you are tired of the same old "batteries not included" gifts for your kids, grandkids, or other pint-sized friends?
Come sit here by me, first of all! I'm tired of it too. This year my goal is to finally order the Waldorf doll kit from Magic Cabin that I kept telling myself I'd order and make a doll for my Little. (Wish me luck! I'd love to just order a doll for her, but I don't know that I'm ready to spend a couple of hundred dollars on one gift, no matter how wonderful it is that it's handmade in Germany. Let's just say my love will make up the difference, if not the professional seamstress skills.)
Does this sound right up your alley? Here are my favorite catalogs and sites to browse through at this time of year:
