As some of you already know, this Workerette is quite the magazine addict. I'm also dedicated to living as "green" as I can, which includes raising my daughter on as many organic or all-natural products as possible and using non-toxic items in my home where I'm able. (You may have even stopped by one of my other blogs, Going Green, where I discuss this sometimes fun, sometimes funny, lifestyle change.)
For the obvious reasons, I was truly excited to spot a new magazine on the newsstand at my local Borders today. KIWI caught my eye because of its name, frankly. I'm a pretty big kiwi fan. I know it sounds odd, but the little bird native to New Zealand is darn cute, plus I grew up watching my father polish his boots with the shoe polish of the same name. Not to mention that the actual kiwi fruit is quite yummy, thank you very much.
But I digress. The name caught my eye, but the subtitle kept my attention: "Growing families the natural and organic way". Can you imagine my glee upon reading that? Cover features include "50 Healthy Lunchbox Ideas" (just wait til you see their lunch planning grid -- it's fantastic!), "Yoga: Fun for Kids", and "Healthy Bedroom Feng Shui". This glossy little publication is a good read, that's for sure. I devoured it tonight during the Little's ballet lesson, and I enjoyed it so much that I went to their site as soon as I got her to bed and signed up for their Kiwi Scoop e-newsletter and put in my application to become a member of their Parents' Advisory Board. I wholeheartedly want to be in on the growth of this magazine, because it meets the needs of a growing niche: families who want to go, and stay, green.
Oh, by the way, make sure you check out their "Kiwi Cuts" feature: it's got a handful of discounts and deals just for their readers. Can't complain about that, either!
