According to this article in the Boston Business Journal, Babson College has teamed up with the Center for Women's Business Research to find out what kind of challenges women of color face when trying to start their own businesses. The study will last over several years and will ultimately lead to action plans at both the individual and community levels to help women overcome these issues.
With women-owned businesses appearing at great rates, and the number of women of color building businesses at more than five times the nation's average, the numbers are good, but the incoming revenue doesn't match.
If you'd like to participate in the study to help researchers learn more, and hopefully better address this trend, you can get more details at www.WomensBusinessResearch.org/womenofcolor. (Participants must own a business that is at least 50% women-owned with a minimum revenue of $250,000.)
