I never knew there was organized women's football leagues. Women's football started in the 1920's, but it didn't get notoriety until the 1960's when Cleveland talent agent Sid Friedman tackled a women's semi-pro league.
Womens E News has an interesting article all about the history, the funding, and features some players and teams. I think it's a great outlet for women to be able to take out some aggression, keep physically and mentally fit, and all while they are doing something they really love.
It's exciting that women are given this opportunity, but it's a little discouraging to learn how the players are coming up with the money themselves to keep the leagues going. Has anyone ever been to a women's football game? Would you pay $12 to see them play?
