Interesting Website for "Mamas"

I just found out that TodaysMama.com has revamped their website, so I popped by to check it out.  I highly recommend that you go see it.  It's a sleek but welcoming design and the site offers a bunch of good information for moms.

Here's their press release about the new launch:

TodaysMama Launches New, Enhanced Website

New TodaysMama 2.0 Site Includes Significant New User Pages, Expanded Content

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TodaysMama (www.todaysmama.com), a leading developer of personal, professional and parenting resources for women and mothers everywhere, today announced the launch of its enhanced Website, TodaysMama.com 2.0.

The TodaysMama 2.0 site features a number of new elements and features, including:

  • Todays Buzz: A collection of the latest news in numerous areas, ranging from decorating to health, parenting and work-related issues.
  • The TodaysMama.com Blog Directory: This directory, which augments the TodaysMama sites Expand Your Perspective section, directs readers to a broad array of Webloggers in numerous categories from the impressions of a Palestinian refugee journalist mama to the experiences of a libertarian homeschooler and even a few Papa bloggers. TodaysMama invites mothers to submit new blogs to the site.
  • The TodaysMama.com Photo Page: Found in the Expand Your Perspective section of the site, this page publishes photos shared by mamas, from an innovative iPod Halloween costume to a great vacation spot to a spectacular sunset.
  • TodaysMama Polls: Expand Your Perspectives final new feature gives mamas the opportunity to weigh in on issues covering the gamut from playful to serious, etiquette to politics and education.
  • TodaysMama Calendars: This new events calendar provides information on the best family-oriented activities in each of TodaysMamas local markets, as well as national-level events and observances.
  • The TodaysMama.com GIVE Section. This page is the result of a new partnership forged between TodaysMama and Kiva, a charitable organization that lets mamas make small micro-loans to specific entrepreneurs in nations throughout the developing world empowering them to improve their skills and enhance their families quality of life.

TodaysMama.com has also expanded other main features, such as the Support Your Local Mama directories of goods and services; MamasMix, which now includes reviews of albums/CDs and gives mamas the ability to submit and download music mixes; and the articles and columns section in Expand Your Perspective, which will add new decorating, cooking and lifestyle content.

As we move out of beta mode, we are delighted to release the new TodaysMama.com 2.0 Website, said Rachael Herrscher, co-founder and CEO of TodaysMama. TodaysMama is an ever-evolving, collaborative experience, and we invite mamas everywhere to discover all that TodaysMama has to offer them, and all they have to offer other mamas.

It has been a great experience developing this new version of our site, said Stephanie Peterson, co-founder and senior vice president of TodaysMama. We hope other moms get as much out of the site as we did developing it, and look forward to working with them to improve our site and the experience of everyone who uses it.

Since its beta 1.0 launch, TodaysMama.com has attracted more than 135,000 unique visitors. We expect this number to rapidly expand as we add compelling new features, such as the TodaysMama newsletter, as well as meaningful political, lifestyle and educational content, said Herrscher.

The idea for TodaysMama came in 2004, when Herrscher and Peterson searched together for a Mom-n-Tot swim class and lamented the lack of a quality central local resource of practical information for mothers. In October 2004, Herrscher and Peterson published the first Utah Mamas Handbook. Shortly after the appearance of the inaugural handbook, demand began to pour in from mothers in other states for similar books, and for social networking opportunities and ongoing how-to information that could enhance their parenting skills, professional growth and overall quality of life.

Currently, TodaysMama has local franchises or licenses in: Houston; Phoenix; Las Vegas; San Diego; Santa Cruz; Seattle; Salt Lake City; and Washington, D.C., with additional franchises and licenses planned in the near future.
