Today I turned in the paperwork to join my local MOMS Club and when I did, I received a packet of information which included the premiere issue of a new magazine called total 180! According to the subtitle, this subscription-only pub is "THE magazine for the professional woman turned stay-at-home mom". I must say, they are on the right track after looking through it.
Cover features include pieces about keeping your sanity during the holiday season, finding the best place to live (based on their top 10 list), and what "all in a day's work" can be defined as when you hop off the corporate elevator and onto the mommy escalator ride.
If you're considering leaving the professional world (temporarily or permanently), this is something worth checking out. Even if you are working from home, like me, it's well worth reading. While they assume that the reader is on the "exclusively a mommy" track, there are plenty of resources and ideas, especially about networking with other moms and maintaining some semblance of a life outside of Barney and mashed peas, that will come in handy. I haven't gotten to read it in-depth yet, but I look forward to doing so after spotting a feature on Brooke Shields' story about battling PPD (post-partum depression) and an essay titled "I'm Sooo PISSED!" which answers that lovely question, "What do you do all day?"
(Most moms have to bite back the "I work my *** off, in case you hadn't noticed!" retort -- we'll see what this writer had to say!) Even their subscription card is sassy; comments like "As my reward for taking the time to find my checkbook" my prepaid subscription rate is $9.95 and bill me because "...the kids are screaming..." (for a slightly higher sub rate of $15.95) gave me a chuckle -- and the rates are pretty good if you're fresh off the corporate payroll and wondering about the budget. Ask Santa for a sub, perhaps?

I've seen that magazine too. I got a copy at a baby expo as I recall. It's pretty good.
