Mattel Inc is recalling 4.4 million sets of Polly Pocket Magnetic Play Sets. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately because they pose choking threats to children. The small magnets inside the dolls and accessories can fall out undetected by parents.
The CPSC is aware of 170 reports of children swallowing these small magnets. The magnets only measure 1/8 inch in diameter and they are embedded in the hands and feet of the dolls, clothing, and other accessories.
Polly Pockets have been sold in stores worldwide from May 2003-September 2006, ranging in price from $15-$30. Visit cpsc.gov for more information, or call Matell at 888-597-6597.
