Holidays are suppose to give you the warm and fuzzy feeling, and they are suppose to be a time to enjoy your family. So, about.com offers some strategies on how to reduce your stress so you can sit back and relax.
- Make a plan. Guest list, menu, when and how you'll decorate, when you'll cook, when you'll clean. Being prepared and organized is half the battle.
- Make this year's meal an assigned potluck! Have everyone bring a dish to put less stress on yourself.
- Give new recipes a trial run. Don't get "burned" by that cranberry apple ring a half-hour before it's time to eat. Try the recipe out once first to see if turns out right.
- Assign seating. If there are family members who argue, make some cute name cards with kids, and that way it might help avoid awkward silences or arguments.
- If you can, have it catered. It will be less prep, less clean-up, and more time to enjoy your family.
- Set the table the day before. Cover it with a clean table cloth. This will be one less step for the big day.
- Use disposable pans. It's bad enough to wash dirty dishes, but messy, stuck-on-food pots and pans are the worst.
Thanksgiving celebrates tradition, family, and togetherness. Try and help yourself remember these things. I know there are some other great suggestions out there..lets hear them.
