This season is one for reflecting on the things we are thankful for. Lifescript.com offers some unique ideas on ways we can express our gratitude for the ones we love.
- When you set the table, write down each guest's name, and why you are thankful they are in your life.
- Create a family journal that will be brought out every year. Have everyone say a few things that they are thankful for. After several years of journaling, it will be a great thing to have, especially as loved ones leave us, it will be a great memory item.
- Give a gift to a local homeless shelter as a family.
- If you didn't cook, start to wash the dishes without asking. No one will ever say "yes" when asked if they need help.
- Say some sort of grace before dinner.
- Remember people in your life like your babysitter, or hairdresser. Bake them some cookies, or get a gift certificate.
- Gather up old toys and clothes and donate them as a family.
- Drop a little note or email to friends, family, or co-workers to say thanks for all you do.
It's the little things in life that matter, and people will always appreciate it more when it's not expected.
