Tis' the Season, but for what? USA Today reports on the Seattle Airport's decision to remove their Christmas trees as their response to a Rabbi's request to add a Menorah to recognize the Jewish Community and Hanukkah, which begins at sundown Friday, the 15th.
The airport said they would have then had to recognize each religious holiday in some form, so they just felt removing the trees was the right call for this season. So what about other public venues? Trees surely won't be removed from stores or shopping malls because it's a money issue. This year the store started putting Christmas displays up with their Halloween decorations!
Is it too much? Are we exploiting the real reason religious holidays are celebrated?
