- Diuretics. Water pills, increase the production and discharge of urine. They don't make you lose real weight, only water. The food and calories you eat have already been absorbed in the small intestine by the time the laxative begins to work. Even though you may feel thinner, you are actually only losing water weight. You will eventually start to retain water, making you feel bloated, which begins the cycle. After a long period of use, your bowels become permanently damaged.
- Ipecac Syrup. This induces vomiting for poisonings. Sadly, people suffering from bulimia have died using this product. The active ingredient in the syrup weakens the heart and causes build-up in your tissue. You suffer irregular heart beats, chest pain, breathing problems, and other complications.
