When your skin is dry and itchy it can lead to more serious conditions. You should try and keep it moist, especially during these winter months. Vitacost.com offers these tips in their enewsletter:
- Take fewer baths, and don't use water that's too hot.
- Apply moisturizer or cream throughout the day.
- Use gentle products. Stay away from harsh soaps, detergents and other products.
- Don't rub or scratch your skin, it will only make symptoms worse.
- If skin becomes scaly, try applying a salicylic acid cream or ointment.
There are some very good moisturizing lotions on the market now that are not very expensive. Personally, I like the Caress shimmer lotion. Any other recommendations?
