As some of you may recall, I'm in the process of getting a nursery ready for a little man on the way. It's a lot different going from princesses and ponies and pink dresses to our planned hunting and fishing theme, and while it's exciting, it's also a bit intimidating. After all, I have these grand ideas for how to decorate the room (can you say "lots of plaid flannel"?) but when it comes to artwork, I had no clue what to pull into the room. Most of the things I've seen at the local stores are done in baby blue or sports themes. Not a whole lot of selection for somebody who is thinking more Woolrich primaries than fuzzy wuzzy pastels.
However, when I was sent the link to Wallhogs.com, I was offered a whole new option for decorating. You see, Wallhogs creates posters, canvas art, or vinyl prints from your digital photos. The vinyl prints can even be applied to the wall and removed later, whether you move or your theme changes. How cool is that? Frankly, I think it's darn handy for those who are renting, living in a dorm, or in military housing, where damage to the walls would turn out to be an expensive no-no.
I read through the installation directions for the vinyl wall prints and it sounds like a process that would be easy after you've done it once. Getting the hands-on experience would make all the difference, but the online directions seem fairly straight forward. The main focus is on uploading your own images, so I'm now racking my brain trying to figure out if I have any good shots of animals from our local wildlife park. Can you imagine an almost life-size wolf, bear, or school of salmon on the wall? (Yes, almost lifesize. They can print images up to 7 feet tall and more than 4 feet wide!)
The price list seems affordable; 24" tall vinyl Wallhogs will run you $24.99 and the same size for a glossy poster print is under $20. Even canvas prints run only $19.99 to $49.99. I see that being a great gift for grandparents later in the year, after some good shots of the kiddos together appear!
Just in case you're not the artistic type, you can always select from their online catalog of images as well. However, they offer special information for those of you who are artists and photographers. Not only can you get prints made for your office or gallery, but you can also get them in stock to sell yourself! That's a lot different than the standard process of selling prints; you can go beyond prints and posters to these removable wall vinyls and really branch out. Oh, I can see the marketing possibilities already and I'm no professional photographer!
Be sure to take a moment to view the "What is a Wallhog?" video. It's informative and, well, the dog vinyl is just adorable. I see my daughter wanting one of those in her own room; forget about baby brother! What do you think...should I get a giant bear to stand behind the crib?

Great review! Too bad you're no longer keeping them coming, but having a young one is a full time job indeed!
