So where do you begin? Try these five "baby steps" to get started:
- Use natural or "green" cleaning supplies. You can make your own, or purchase products offered by companies such as Method or Caldrea.
- Green baby's bottom with cloth diapers, chlorine-free disposables, or gDiapers, a cloth/disposable hybrid.
- Consider furniture from companies like Ikea, which have strict standards regarding formaldehyde and other chemicals in furniture and packaging.
- Try out natural and/or organic hygiene products that will be safer for your little one's skin. My personal favorites are Aveeno and Earth's Best.
- Whether you're offering formula or need a backup for the sitter to feed baby's breastmilk, consider glass bottles or BPA-free plastic bottles. Evenflo makes classic-style glass bottles that baby boomers' parents will remember, as does BornFree (also a provider of BPA-free plastic bottles, my choice for my son-to-be).
There are tons of other ways to dip your toes into greening your nursery, your home, and your life. Keep popping by for more easy environmentalism tips!

Good ideas, this would help a grandparent who is trying to help the next generation be more "green"!
