Whether you're a Workerette juggling a job outside the home, an at-home mom, a work-at-home mom or all of the above *yikes!*, you've probably wondered if a slow cooker would be useful for you. I'm personally learning that the answer is a resounding YES! Even if you aren't a mom (or perhaps, are a gramma or great-gramma), planning ahead can only be a good thing. It makes the budget a little less likely to break, the days a little more efficient, and with recipes like the ones these ladies are sharing, it can make dinner healthier and/or tastier!
With Independence Day coming up, not to mention the general picnic and barbecue hubbub of summer break, I think these BBQ sausage bites are a great take-along for potlucks or to put out on the table for noshing during the fireworks. It's also definitely the recipe for meat lovers! Let me know what you think of them!
What You Need:
- 1 - 1 lb package of mini smoked sausages
- 3/4 lb fully cooked bratwurst
- 3/4 lb smoked kielbasa OR Polish sausage
- 1 - 18 oz bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 2/3 C orange marmalade
- 1/2 tsp ground mustard
- 1/8 tsp ground allspice
- 1 - 20 oz can pineapple chunks (drained)
What To Do:
- Combine sausages in a 3-quart slow cooker.
- Whisk together bbq sauce, marmalade, mustard, and allspice.
- Pour mixture over sausages and stir to coat well.
- Cover and cook on high for 2.5-3 hours (until heated through).
- Stir in pineapple.
Serve a bowl of these sausage bites with some cubed cheese of various types. I think Colby Jack and cheddar would be an interesting combo with it!
