Need to stock up on things for the kids to do during summer vacation? Try entering the contest Parents magazine is co-sponsoring. Forty entrants will win a craft kit from Parents and Cadaco that includes sidewalk chalk, stencils, markers, and other goodies. Visit the Parents website to enter.
They are also offering gobs of other contests and sweepstakes, including one for a gob of Hawaiian Tropic sun protection products, a 12-day cruise in honor of the new Shrek movie, and a kitchen makeover. Wowsers. Get over to their sweepstakes roundup and enter everything you can!
Just in case you don't win, here's a little list of things I like to keep on hand to keep the kiddos occupied:
- Bubbles and bubble wands
- Sidewalk chalk
- Fingerpaints
- Butterfly net and bug castle/container
- Sand toys (these can be used for making mud pies just as well as playing in the sandbox!)
- Butcher paper (draw life-size self-portraits, murals, and more)
- Colored pencils (they won't melt in the car like crayons)
- Inexpensive buckets (take 'em from the beach to nature walks to, well, that mud pie factory)
