As I mentioned last Sunday I planned to head to the hospital on Monday for a C-section to deliver my son. Hopefully you ladies enjoyed the articles that I was able to schedule to appear here on Workerette.com! In case you're wondering, little man arrived safe and sound at 9:56 a.m. on Monday, 2 July. He was six pounds, three ounces, and measured up at 20.5 inches. We like to say he's a lean, mean combatives machine (he was actually kicking at one of the surgeons DURING the C-section!).
We were discharged from the hospital on the morning of July 4th. There was a big shindig here in town just blocks from our house and we weren't able to see them, but we sure heard them! He and his big sister slept through it all, thankfully, though the dog was pretty freaked out.
Over the next few weeks you'll probably see some resources appearing here for new parents, particularly "maternal units" *grin*. As I've mentioned here in the past, with my daughter I fought my way through a very long battle with post-partum depression (PPD). Throughout this pregnancy I've felt a million times better, and even now I feel much better than I did at this point with her, but I'm still keeping my eyes out for the signs of a slump. Because PPD affects the entire family, not just Mom, I want to make sure that any Workerettes out there who need resources can find them here.
For those of you who are parents or hope to be, or who are grandparents with wisdom to share, please take a moment to comment with your favorite resources for mothers, especially for those trying to juggle a career and a family. Don't be shy about saying what products and resources were a total flop for you too! Between all of us we can come up with a huge list of "what not to buy" items, I'm sure.
Now, about those recalls - while I was busy adjusting to life with a newborn again, the CPSC was busy notifying folks of products that need to be pulled. Three - yes, THREE - new recalls occured already this month, and we're not even to midmonth! I'll post those for you here next. Be sure to read them over closely, as some of the dangers are quite serious.
Hope you all had a safe and happy Independence Day (for Canadians, the 1st, and USA folks, the 4th) and a great workweek while I was away! And now, back to work. Or Workerette. *grin*

Hi Melonie!
Congratulations on the new baby! If you ever need any help with this blog, let me know ;) I don't know how it is to have a newborn, but from what my friends tell me, it's pretty tiring!
